SISKIYOU MOUNTAIN CLUB IS HIRING
Youth From Southwest Oregon For 2014 Field Season

The Siskiyou Mountain Club is hiring for our 2014 trail crew. We’re seeking youth applicants ages 18-25 living in Jackson, Josephine and Curry County who want to work on different trail projects throughout the 2014 season. Pay is dependent upon experience and there is a $1,000 academic bonus awarded after completion of the program.

Crew members are required to participate in three orientation weekends in May, and preference will be given to applicants who show history volunteering with the SMC. Applicants should be willing to hike long distances and perform arduous work tasks, as well as enjoy spending long durations camping in the wilderness with limited amenities and no communication devices.

Projects include a re-route of the Pilot Rock Trail, other work projects in the Soda Mountain wilderness area, as well as continued restoration projects in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness area. The program is funded by cost-share grants from the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and Medford Bureau of Land Management, as well as our foundation grantors and contributing members.

“We’ve never gone into a season with this many resources,” says Gabe Howe, SMC executive director.
