Spring 2017: Volunteer on the trail

Spring 2017: Work with our Field Coordinator

Aaron Babcock, SMC Field Coordinator

for the Siskiyou Hiker

12 APRIL 2017 | WILLIAMS, ORE. — Trails are a trade and our Field Coordinator is a master. This spring we’re work side by side with him on maintenance trips in the Kalmiopsis, Red Buttes, Wild Rogue, and Soda Mountain Wilderness Areas.

Participants will be self supported and self sufficient. We provide the transportation, tools, and expertise. You provide some basic gear, food, and a can do attitude. Get skills, gain experience, and get ready. Don’t forget to check out all of our field events (click here).

April 25 – 26: Siskiyou Wilderness
Help Aaron out on the East Fork Illinois and Crazy Peak Trails in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest’s southern edge. Fatty old growth, dreamy views, and a pristine river. Email aaron@siskiyoumountainclub.org for details and to sign up.

May 1 – 3: Mule Creek Trail, Wild Rogue Wilderness
After a battering winter, there will inevitably be plenty of work to do on the Mule Creek Trail, which features pristine gorges, mixed forests, and lots of history. Email aaron@siskiyoumountainclub.org for details and to sign up.

May 9 – 11: Soda Mountain Wilderness
These are not overnight trips, so cherry pick the dates. Work on the Boccard Point, Pilot Rock, Lone Pilot, and Pacific Crest Trails. Email aaron@siskiyoumountainclub.org for details and to sign up.

May 13 – 14: Shorty Noble, Kalmiopsis Wilderness
Help finish up restoring the Shorty Noble Trail, a spur that winds through a stunning old growth forest to the sharp banks of the Wild and Scenic Illinois River. Email aaron@siskiyoumountainclub.org for details and to sign up.

Put the cherry on top of your trail skills as you complete meaningful projects and get to know intimately the most pristine and wild areas in Southwest Oregon/Northwest California. For folks who want to lead their own volunteer trips, this is an opportunity not to miss. ###
