May 6 – 7: Volunteer at Babyfoot Lake
This trip is suitable for those of all skill levels. The hiking is tough, but it’s short, and we need your help brushing out the trail network around Babyfoot Lake, Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Transportation to and from trailhead provided.

May 13 – 14: Salvage the Shorty Noble Trail
This all volunteer effort has taken the Shorty Noble Trial from zero to hero. Come help put on the finishing touches. Backpack a few miles into the Kalmiopsis and spend the night along the banks of the Wild and Scenic Illinois River. Moderate.

May 18: 10 years and counting in the Kalmiopsis
6:30pm at the Ashland Outdoor Store (37 N 3rd). Join us for our May Hikers Rendezvous and learn more about exploring the Kalmiopsis Wilderness from our executive director. In 11 years of hiking and working in Southwest Oregon’s largest wilderness, Gabriel Howe has met a lot of characters, seen a lot of places, and even gotten himself into a little trouble.

May 20 – 21: Middle Fork Rogue
Help crosscut downed trees from the Middle Fork Rogue River Trail, Sky Lakes Wilderness. Thousands of trees killed in the 2008 Middle Fork fire have fallen, and we need your help opening up this artery of an iconic loop we’re working toward restoring. Moderate.

May 20 – 21: Overnight at Pearsoll Peak
Spend a night at the highest peak in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, with some of the world’s best views. Moderate to difficult. Email jthieret@hotmail.com for details and to sign up.
May 22: Hoppy Adventure Hour at Lucky Lab Beer Hall, Portland
A day’s drive from Portland, the Kalmiopsis beacons hikers seeking solitude, unconfined adventures, and a wilder slice of Oregon. Come learn more about exploring the state’s third largest wilderness and gear up for 2017. This is hosted by REI Portland. Click here to sign up.
May 24 – 29: Trans-Kalmiopsis Volunteer Party
Spend six days backpacking and working your way through the 26 mile Trans-Kalmiopsis Route. Discover the Chetco, its tributaries, and the rugged slopes in between. Difficult. Email gabe@siskiyoumountainclub.org or call 541-708-2056 for details and to sign up.
May 27 – 29: Boundary Trail Brushout
Help clean up the Boundary Trail, circa Red Buttes Wilderness, and Oregon Caves. Spend a couple nights at the top of the world and open up this upland ridge trail on the Siskiyou Crest. Moderate. Email jthieret@hotmail.com for details and to sign up.
June 1 – 4: Boundary Trail, Klamath National Forest
Running along the Rogue-Klamath divide, the Klamath National Forest’s Boundary Trail will close in a loop that features the best of the Red Buttes Wilderness. We need your help on a heavy brushing project. Spend a few nights high in the Siskiyous and be part of this momentous project.

June 6: Climate City Brewing hosts Kalmiopsis adventure
Grab a pint, relax, and learn more about exploring the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Learn more about trail conditions, hear stories, get trip details, and plan your 2017 trip there. It starts at 6pm at Climate City Brewing in Grants Pass (509 SW G Street). Check out the event on Facebook.
June 7 – 11: Kelsey Pack Trail, Siskiyou Wilderness
