24 AUGUST 2020 | ASHLAND, OR. -- Rising from the clear and cold Middle Fork-Rogue River is the Halifax Trail. It climbs a series of steep switchbacks to Solace Meadow and McKie Cabin.
It connects with the Pacific Crest Trail and loops back around the Seven Lakes Basin and back down the Middle Fork to form what we call the Wolf Loop, or the Rogue Wolf Loop.
Volunteer Aaron Wissler
The High Cascades Ranger District's rec staff has been hard at work on the Middle Fork and Seven Lakes trails, paving the way for fall hikers. Now we need to get in there and clean up the Halifax.
Volunteer Nate Chotlos
The trail has about 50 logs down on it and long sections with thick brush. Backpack in about six miles to camp and spend a few days helping out.

You don't need trail experience, but should have some backpacking background and be willing to put the time in to prepare.
That happens Labor Day Weekend, September 5-7. Just email karly@siskiyoumountainclub.org for details and to sign up.
Across the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, the Bailey Mountain Trail connects a backdoor route into the Chetco River.
Over the years, wildfire has taken its toll in this already unforgiving terrain, and a section has filled in with thick brush.
"I'm really looking forward to this one," says trip leader Karly White. "For volunteers who are looking for a true Siskiyou backcountry experience, this is the trip to go on."
Come knock it out September 19-20. Just email karly@siskiyoumountainclub.org for more details and to sign up. ###
