For Earth Week April 18 – 26
17 April 2015 | Pilot Rock, OR — In an extension of Earth Day, Siskiyou Mountain Club is kicking off Earth Week. But we won’t be tabling or spending too much time in the frontcountry. We’ll be putting our boots on the ground. Join one of three events and make a difference you can see from space.
Come prepared wearing sturdy boots, long pants and gloves. No experience necessary. Bring enough food and water for the day. Email gabe@siskiyoumountainclub.org or call 541-708-2056 for details and to sign-up for trips.
April 18 Lone Pilot Trail Head out to Porcupine Gap, about 40-minutes from Ashland, and help crosscut a slew of logs brought down by winter windstorms near Lone Pine Ridge. There are some technical log set-ups that will be a challenge to get out of the trail. Expect about 5-miles of hiking. Carpools leave 340 ‘A’ St (Ashland, OR) at 9:30am and be back by 6pm. Moderate to challenging.
April 22 Babyfoot Lake (Earth Day) Join our annual tradition and help us clear the trail to Babyfoot Lake. There’s plenty of downed logs and brush to get at. If we make it to the Lake, we’ll continue working to restore a trail connection between Babyfoot and Kalmiopsis Rim Trail 1124. Carpools leave Ashland at 8am and Grants Pass at 9am. We’ll be back to Grants Pass by 5pm. Moderate. Expect up to 4-miles of hiking
April 25 Pilot Rock Restore Help with some restoration projects at Pilot Rock. We’re going to be filling in the old user-created landscab with native debris and working to fix some switchbacks. Carpools leave 340 ‘A’ St (Ashland, OR) at 9:30am and we’ll be back by 3:30pm. Moderate.
April 26 Members Only Pilot Rock Hike Hike the new trail to the base of Pilot Rock. Check out the massive rock walls and learn about the work our crews did with Medford Job Council and Medford BLM trail crew. Carpools leave Ashland at 11am and we’ll be back no later than 4pm. Moderate.
