April 9 – 10: Volunteer in the Kalmiopsis highlands
Join us for this weekend as we work to clear a beautiful section of the iconic Kalmiopsis Rim Trail near Babyfoot Lake. Come out for Saturday, Sunday, or both days. Camp out on the rim with us. The trip is suitable for beginners. The work is moderate and leader Jeff Thieret will provide training. The work area is about two miles from the Babyfoot Lake Trailhead. For those camping out Saturday night, the exact location will be determined. Just email Jeff at jthieret@hotmail.com for details and to sign up.
April 11 – 15: Tincup Brush Party
Join us for whatever days are convenient for you. Just show up a few minutes early for the 7am briefing at the Tincup Trailhead and we’ll put you to work. Volunteers will be working with staff, mostly swamping behind “power brushers.” There will also be some tread work. You don’t need previous experience but you should be ready to put in a full day.
Camp out at the trailhead with us, or not. We do need to know which days you plan on attending. Just email info@siskiyoumountainclub.org to sign up.
This iconic trail traverses the south bank of the Upper Chetco River before connecting to the Upper Chetco Trail that leads deep into the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Opening back up is a priority to maintain access for trail users, as well as wildland fire fighters. We are opening it back up under a grant agreement with the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Just email info@siskiyoumountainclub.korg now for details and to sign up.
April 15 – 19: Siskiyou Wilderness volunteer
Climb to a prominent ridge of the Siskiyou Wilderness Area and help bring this dead trail back to life. This project has been stewarded at the hands of double-century volunteer (served over 200 hours in 2021) Luke Brandy. Email him at bonsaigoat@gmail.com for details and to sign up.
April 15 – 17: Lone Pilot, volunteer’s delight
Join stewardship coordinator Alex Relph for this moderate two-night volunteer trip into the depths of the Soda Mountain Wilderness. The terrain is moderate and we have about 40 trees we need to logout from the Lone Pilot Trail with crosscut saws. The van will leave Ashland at 10am on April 15. That gives you enough time to pack about seven miles into camp and get a head start on work. Work a full day Saturday, and be back by 3pm Sunday. We provide tools, transportation, and outstanding leadership. You must be vaccinated and masked to ride in the van. Email info@siskiyoumountainclub.org for details and to sign up.
April 19: Cocktails for a cause at Luna Cafe + Mercantile
Enjoy specialty cocktails and learn more about SMC. $2 of every special cocktail and $1 from every special lemonade will be donated to the Club. 2525 Ashland Street, Ashland, OR.
April 23 – 24: Upper Rogue swamp machine
Become a swamp master and help us logout the Upper Rogue River Trail near Prospect, OR. The work is moderate, but you don’t need any experience. Work will start with a 7:30am briefing on Saturday and Sunday. Work one or both days, camp out, or not. We will campout overnight and you are welcome to ride with us to/from our facility in Gold Hill. Just email info@siskiyoumountainclub.org for details and to sign up.
This 47-mile National Recreation Trail had been left to disappear after over a decade of no maintenance. With grant support from the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, we’re working to get it back open one mile at a time. Email info@siskiyoumountainclub.org.
April 28: Slide show at Curry County Library, Gold Beach Branch
Join our executive director for a slide show of some of his favorite pictures from over 12 years of coordinating projects in the Siskiyou backcountry. He’ll share stories, lessons learned, and expand on projects past, present and future. Sign up for 2022 trips, learn more about our mission. 5:30pm at the Gold Beach Branch of Curry Library, 94341 3rd Street, Gold Beach, OR.

May 6 – 8: Panther Ridge brushout
Help brush out a thick section of brush along the Panther Ridge Trail, Wild Rogue Wilderness. We’ll be camping out near Buck Point. Either ride with us, or meet us there. Friday leave Gold Hill at 9am, head to the campsite, and put in a few hours of work. Work all day Saturday, wrap up any loose ends Sunday, and leave by 1pm. You may provide your own transportation, but you have to be there for our briefings each day.
You need your own food and camping equipment. We’ll be camping at a primitive trailhead with no bathroom or running water. No experience necessary. Instruction, tools, transportation, and world-class leadership is provided. Email info@siskiyoumountainclub.org.
