20 SEPTEMBER 2022 | ASHLAND, OR. — Siskiyou Mountain Club is seeking videos from our members to be used in a short film project. If are passionate about our mission, have a smartphone and five minutes, you can help with this fun year-end initiative. It’s easy. Just follow these simple instructions:
- Go outside and find somewhere quiet. Whether it’s your backyard, a corner of your local park, or far out on a wandering mountain trail, get yourself to an outdoor space.
- Capture the film in landscape format. We’re used to taking selfie-videos with a vertical or in a portrait format. Please flip that phone horizontally and capture the clip in landscape mode for formatting and editing.
- Use the following script as a place to start:
Hi everyone, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’ve been a [MEMBER or VOLUNTEER or BOTH] since [APPROXIMATE DATE YOU GOT INVOLVED]. Today, I’m out here in [DESCRIBE WHERE YOU ARE] and enjoying this nice early-fall day. I support the Club’s mission because [YOU’RE REASON WHY]. Thanks for watching today and long live the backwoods trails!
Example script:
Hi, everyone, I’m Roger and I’ve been a member and volunteer with Siskiyou Mountain Club since around 2018. Today I’m at the top of Roxy-Anne peak where I’ve come for a bike ride after work and I just love it up here. I support the Club’s mission because I love hiking in the Red Buttes Wilderness. It’s a place I go to get away from it all, enjoy solitude, and explore. I’m actually heading there later this fall and I’m so thankful for all the work the Club puts into those trails. Thank you for watching today and long live the backwoods trails! - Feel free to get creative and go off-script! Make it your own and don’t worry about mistakes — we’ll edit them later. What inspires you? Where are your favorite place to visit? We want to know! Feel free to include action, props, and get creative!
- The clip should be under two minutes.
- Email the clip to info@siskiyoumountainclub.org, give us permission to use it, and you may be featured in our communications.
- We will send a copy of the out-of-print Hiking Bigfoot Country by John Hart as well as a tee of your choice to whoever provides our favorite submission by November 1.
