Siskiyou hikers on the Illinois River Trail

This marquee trail winds along a rugged canyon and maybe, just maybe, some of the flowers will be popping.
The work is straight forward and includes some basic crosscutting. If you are traveling from out of town, you are welcome to camp out at our facility in Gold Hill, OR. Just email alex@siskiyoumountainclub.org now to sign up.

Annual Memorial Day Traverse: May 24 – 29

Join us for this annual trip across the Kalmiopsis Wilderness and help us maintain sections of the 26-mile Trans-Kalmiopsis Route. This is a multi-night trip reserved for volunteers who:

  • have strong and recent backpacking experience
  • are in great physical shape
  • up for a challenge and flexible with plans
  • are vetted by field manager and trip leader Karly White

The trip starts from Babyfoot Lake Trailhead very early on the 24th. From there hike about seven miles to Bailey Mountain. Most of the work is concentrated between there and Taggart’s Bar, about another nine miles. Come out at Vulcan Lake, about 30 miles from Brookings. We’ll grab victory lunch and head back on the 29th.

Ford the Chetco River

You don’t need trail work experience and the work is not technical, but you do need to be able to show up prepared with your own backpacking gear and be self-reliant in wilderness settings.

Coming from out of town? Stay at our facility in Gold Hill, OR, the night before and/or after we’re wrapped up. Just email karly@siskiyoumountainclub.org now for details and to sign up.

Further out: Volunteer in the Red Buttes July 21 – 24
